Asian Recipes - Stuffed Sweet Peppers
Recipe
Ingredients
-
1 lb/500 g lean ground pork,
chicken, turkey or beef
-
2 tbsp/30 ml roasted
sesame seeds
-
1 large egg
-
4 to 5 sweet bell
peppers (the more colorful the better)
stem on, cut in half lengthwise with seeds and veins removed

Sprigs of fresh
coriander and roasted
sesame seeds for garnish
Seasoning:
-
2 tbsp/30 ml
sesame oil
-
2 tbsp/30 ml
soy sauce
-
1 tbsp/15 ml
dry red chilies, ground
-
2 tsp/10 ml
black pepper, coarsely ground
-
4 cloves garlic,
minced
-
2 green onions, minced
-
1 inch/2 cm cube of
fresh gingerroot, minced
Serves

Method:
-
Combine all seasoning
and main ingredients except for the sweet peppers
and oil. Mix well. (This mixture can be refrigerated
for several days or frozen for later use.)

Fill
the pepper halves with the meat mixture and smooth
the surface of the filling.

Heat a frying pan on
medium heat and add the oil. Fry the stuffed
peppers, meat side down, for 25 to 30 minutes until
they are deep reddish-brown on the bottom and cooked
through.

Alternatively, after the meat has browned,
finish cooking them in a preheated 350F/180C
oven for 20 minutes or until done. Garnish and
serve.
