Starters Recipes - Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

Ingredients

  • 450g/1lb brick mozzarella

  • 2 eggs (beaten)

  • 50ml/2fl oz water

  • 350ml/12fl oz white breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice

  • 150ml/1/4pt flour

  • 75ml/3fl oz corn flour

  • Vegetable oil for deep-frying

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into finger-size sticks.

  2. Beat the eggs with water and set aside. Mix the bread crumbs, garlic salt and   mixed spice and set aside. Blend the flour with the corn flour.   

  3. Heat the vegetable oil. Dip the cheese sticks in flour, then in the egg, then in the breadcrumb mixture. Place carefully in the hot oil and fly for a few seconds until golden. When golden, remove from the hot oil and drain. Serve hot.
