Dessert Recipes - Maraschino Macaroni

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz cooking (tart) apples, sliced

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp water

  • 15 g/1 tbsp butter Granulated sugar

  • 1 small jar maraschino cherries

  • 150 ml/2/3 cup double (heavy) cream

  • 430 g/1 large can creamed macaroni pudding

  • Toasted flaked almonds


Method:

  1. Cook the apples with the water and butter until pulpy. Beat well and sweeten to taste. Leave to cool.

  2. Halve the cherries, reserving the syrup. Mix the cherries with the apple.

  3. Whip the cream with 45 ml/3 tbsp of the maraschino syrup until peaking.

  4. Layer the macaroni pudding, apple and cream in glass sundae dishes, finishing with a layer of cream.

  5. Top with flaked almonds and chill until ready to serve.
