Meats Recipes - American-style Spaghetti with Meatballs

Ingredients                        

  • 450 g/1lb/4 cups minced (ground) beef

  • 25 g/1 oz/1/2 cup parsley and thyme stuffing mix

  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp plain (all-purpose) flour

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 40 g/1 lb/1large jar of red and green pepper sauce

  • 350g/12 oz spaghetti

  • Chopped parsley


Method:

  1. Mix the meat with the stuffing, garlic and cheese. Shape into small balls and toss in the flour.

  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan (skillet) and fry (sauté) the meatballs until browned all over. Drain off any excess oil.

  3. Stir in the pepper sauce, cover and simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring gently occasionally.

  4. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the packet directions. Drain.

  5. Pile on to serving plates and top with the meatballs. Sprinkle with the parsley before serving.
