Meats Recipes - Pasta Grill

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz/2 cups penne or rotelli

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

  • 225 g/8 oz/2 cups minced (ground) beef

  • 400 g/14 oz/1 large can chopped tomatoes

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 75 g/3 oz Cheddar cheese, grated


Method:

  1. Cook the pasta according to the packet directions. Drain.

  2. Meanwhile fry (sauté) the onion, garlic and beef in a pan, stirring until all the grains of meat are brown and separate.

  3. Add the tomatoes, herbs and a little salt and pepper. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for to minutes until the sauce is thickened and rich.

  4. Stir in the cooked pasta. Turn into a 1.5 liter/6 cups flameproof dish.

  5. Sprinkle with the cheese and place under a hot grill (broiler) until the cheese is melted and golden brown. Serve straight away.
