Cook the pasta according to the packet directions. Drain.
Meanwhile fry (sauté)
the onion, garlic and beef in a pan, stirring until
all the grains of meat are brown and separate.
Add
the tomatoes, herbs and a little salt and pepper.
Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for to
minutes until the sauce is thickened and rich.
Stir
in the cooked pasta. Turn into a 1.5 liter/6 cups flameproof dish.
Sprinkle with the cheese
and place under a hot grill (broiler) until the
cheese is melted and golden brown. Serve straight
away.
