Recipes - Quick Saveloy Pilat
Ingredients

225 g/8 oz/1 cup
basmati rice
-
225 g/8 oz/2 cups
frozen diced mixed
vegetables
-
25 g/1 oz/2 tbsp
butter
-
2 onions, finely
chopped
-
10 ml/2 tsp paprika
-
2.5 ml/1/2 tsp dried
thyme
-
350 g/12 oz saveloys,
sliced
-
Salt and freshly
ground black pepper
Method:
-
Cook the rice in plenty of boiling lightly salted
water for to minutes.

Add the vegetables for the
last 5 minutes of cooking time. Drain, rinse with
boiling water and drain again.

Meanwhile, melt the
butter in a large frying pan (skillet). Add the
onion and fry (sauté), stirring, for about 4
minutes until lightly golden.

Stir in the paprika,
thyme and saveloys. Heat through for 2 minutes,
stirring.

Add the rice and vegetable mixture,
season to taste and cook, stirring until piping hot.
